Mladečské Caves

Guided Tours / Visiting Rules

  • Caves are available to the public only when accompanied by a tour guide and during the specified opening hours. Visitors must pay an entrance fee at the cashier desk.
  • After purchasing tickets, visitors should gather at the agreed time in front of the entrance to the cave.
  • Individual tour times are available at the cash desk. The minimum number of people in one group is 5 and the maximum is 50; should the group contain fewer than 5 people, the tour will begin 30 minutes after the agreed time unless more people arrive; group tours booked in advance have priority over other visitors.
  • Entry to the caves is organized by the tour guide according to the instructions of the dispatcher.
  • Cave tours last approximately 40 minutes.
  • Because the temperature in the caves is always around 8 °C, warm clothing is recommended.
  • Following a written or telephone agreement, large groups may agree on a tour at a certain time and day while observing the applicable requirements; if a group fails to turn up at the cashier desk at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time, that group will lose its priority to enter the cave.
  • Visitors can only make audivisual recordings without using a tripod, selfie stick and flash. It is not allowed to retard the tour, move away from the group and hold down other visitors. If this instruction is violated, the guide may forbid making audiovisual recordings. Images and video recordings may not be used for commercial purposes without the aproval of the Cave Administration of the Czech Republic.
  • Each ticket is valid only for one visit and purchased tickets are non-refundable.
  • If required for safety or other reasons, the caves may be closed either partially or completely.

  • Visitors may only use the approved cave routes and must be accompanied by a tour guide who provides the narration.
  • Visitors are required to observe the instructions of the tour guide, not to move away from the group, and to take extra care while in open spaces (hold on to handrails when passing through dangerous areas).
  • A group leader is obligated to stay with the group and translate the narration into the native language as necessary; in any case, at least safety and other instructions according to the visiting rules must be translated.
  • Visitors must report any injury or illness (including cases of nausea) during the tour to the tour guide, who will ensure that the situation is handled properly.
  • Should any extraordinary event occur (for example, a power blackout), visitors must remain in one location, keep calm, and observe the instructions of the tour guide.

It is prohibited to:

- enter the caves under the influence of alcohol or other psychoactive substances

- enter as a child under the age of 10 without adult accompaniment

- move away from the guided group or to step outside of designated walkways

- bring dogs or other animals into caves

- bring large luggage, sporting equipment, hiking sticks, strollers, etc into the caves

- damage stalactites, cave walls, or other cave formations, or to disturb bats or other animals

- smoke, eat, discard rubbish, or otherwise contaminate the cave

- touch electrical, technical, or safety equipment

The caves are a part of a special area protected by law ČNR Nr.114/92 on the preservation of nature and natural landscapes. For this reason, all visitors must respect its requirements both on the surface and underground, must not damage natural phenomena (rock formations, tree species, plants etc.) and must only use paths open to the public. Breach of the preservation or damaging specially protected parts of nature is liable to a penalty of up to 50,000 CZK.

  • Should these rules be violated, the cave tour may be terminated prematurely and the offender will be escorted out without any reimbursement.
  • Visitors may express their wishes, suggestions, comments, or complaints by making a note in the comment book available upon request at the entry ticket office or at www.caves.cz.
