Mikulov is a beautiful old town in South Moravia.
The former Liechtenstein and later Diestrichstein chateau on the rock has been a unique dominant of the Mikulov skyline for centuries.
St. Anne´s Church with imitation of the Holy Cottage of the Italian Loretta was built in the course of the years 1623 – 1656. The whole building was greatly damaged by the destructive fire in 1784 and only in mid 19th century the church was reconstructed to become a family sepulchre of the Dietrichsteins.
Holy Hill is one of the most important dominant landmarks in Mikulov. The area has been declared a nature reserve in view of the extensive occurrence of rare and protected plant and animal species. A Way of the Cross will lead you to the summit of Holy Hill with its Pilgrimage Chapel of Saint Sebastian, bell tower and Holy Sepulchre.
Kozí hrádek is one of the three rocky dominants of the Mikulov skyline. On the top of the Kozí Hill a two-storey bombarding tower with a gallery and loopholes was built in 15th century.
The only completed stronghold in the Mikulov section from 1938 which served the army until 1999 following its renewal.
Pálava Nature Reserve consists of the landscape complex of the Pálava Hills and the Dyje river valley, protected since 1976 and entered in the list of biosphere reserves of UNESCO in 1986. The area of the Pálava Nature Reserve covers 83 km2. Not only the flora but also the fauna of the Pálava is extremely rich thanks to the varied natural conditions of the region. The Pálava is situated at the boundary of the Panonian steppes and the Central European deciduous woodland.
The Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape is spread over the site of a mighty 12th century border castle. Today it is the home of a romantic château, a picturesque village and in particular a jewel of landscape architecture of unprecedented proportions
Lednice
This summer residence built in the English Gothic Revival style and its carved masterpieces in the representative rooms prove the craftsmanship and refined taste of one of the richest noble families – the Liechtensteins. You an see late 19th century family members‘ private chambers and the rooms of young princes and princesses. The residence is situated in a French style garden with a unique palm greenhouse. The park’s dominant structure is the minaret lookout tower.
Valtice
Originally a Gothic style castle founded in 12th century by the Passau bishops was from 1530 taken over by the Counts Liechtenstein and turned into their main seat. The family’s wealth is still obvious from the generous size and design of the whole site. Today’s look is a result of the work of several important architects of 17th and 18th centuries – Anton Ospel, Anton Erhard Martinelli and Antonio Beduzzi. In 1996 the house and the park were added to the UNESCO World Heritace list.

Dolní Věstonice is situated at the north foot of Pavlov hills, on southern lakeside of Nové Mlýny lakes. Dolní Věstonice was 25 000 years ago one of the most significant settlement of man on our planet. Dolní Věstonice is finding place of the Věstonická venuše (Venus from Věstonice) is the symbol of the oldest art.
