Na Turoldu Cave

Mikulov is a beautiful old town in South Moravia.

The former Liechtenstein and later Diestrichstein chateau on the rock has been a unique dominant of the Mikulov skyline for centuries.

St. Anne´s Church with imitation of the Holy Cottage of the Italian Loretta was built in the course of the years 1623 – 1656. The whole building was greatly damaged by the destructive fire in 1784 and only in mid 19th century the church was reconstructed to become a family sepulchre of the Dietrichsteins.

Lednice-Valtice Area

The Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape is spread over the site of a mighty 12th century border castle. Today it is the home of a romantic château, a picturesque village and in particular a jewel of landscape architecture of unprecedented proportions

This summer residence built in the English Gothic Revival style and its carved masterpieces in the representative rooms prove the craftsmanship and refined taste of one of the richest noble families – the Liechtensteins. You an see late 19th century family members‘ private chambers and the rooms of young princes and princesses. The residence is situated in a French style garden with a unique palm greenhouse. The park’s dominant structure is the minaret lookout tower.

Originally a Gothic style castle founded in 12th century by the Passau bishops was from 1530 taken over by the Counts Liechtenstein and turned into their main seat. The family’s wealth is still obvious from the generous size and design of the whole site. Today’s look is a result of the work of several important architects of 17th and 18th centuries – Anton Ospel, Anton Erhard Martinelli and Antonio Beduzzi. In 1996 the house and the park were added to the UNESCO World Heritace list.
